News — BRUNSWICK CELEBRATES PRIDE MONTH WITH SCARBOROUGH SIXTH FORM COLLEGE

We’re absolutely delighted to have partnered with Scarborough Sixth Form College to celebrate this year’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month!

Around 20 students from the college studying subjects ranging from A Level Fine Art, Graphics and Textiles, to BTEC Fashion and Art Foundation, came together over a period of four weeks to create special pieces to adorn the centre, including a series of three brightly-coloured graphic banners and a crochet rainbow bunting all of which can be found hung around the upper mall of the centre.

Not only do the pieces look amazing, they are also a fantastic visual expression of the students’ commitment to celebrating diversity and equality.

Commenting Naomi Stockill, Teacher at Scarborough Sixth Form College, said:

“When Holly [from the Brunswick Marketing Team] approached me to discuss the prospect of Scarborough Sixth Form College displaying some artwork at the Brunswick in support of LGBT+ Pride month, I knew I wanted to get my students involved. By creating the artwork, our students have had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of various gender and sexual identities which will hopefully encourage them to be more inclusive both in school and within the community.”

Stephen Marriott, Centre Manager at the Brunswick, commented:

“We welcome people from all walks of life at the Brunswick and wanted to show our support for Scarborough as a diverse and inclusive community. We hope our visitors will take the time to view the installation and appreciate the hard work that’s gone into creating it so that we can create a stronger and more inclusive community.”
